A son is in police custody and is accused of killing his father this morning.
Portland police were called to the 2200 block of Aspen in Portland for a domestic dispute. When they arrived, the son would not let officers inside the house to investigate.
That's when police say that the son climbed onto the roof and set the house on fire in order to elude police officers. Officers were able to get the man off of the roof and a short chase followed. They were able to take the man into custody.
When KZTV News crews arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed. It took fire crews about an hour to put out the flames.
Portland Police Chief Mark Cory says that they are treating this as a homicide investigation.
Cory said that the woman who lived at the house was not seriously injured.
