CORPUS CHRISTI -- A 24-year old woman is dead after being hit by a truck last night.
Now, police are searching for the driver.
Friends say Kimberly Encinia was walking along the 7300 Block of Mcardle Road towards The Net Church Saturday evening around 9:30.
Police say that's when a white truck slammed into her.
The worst part...the driver never stopped.
We spoke with one of the victim's close friends and throughout our interview with her there was a common theme of faith.
Briana Axtell said, "Even at church this morning I just continued to give thanks to God for the time that he's given all of us with Kimberly."
Briana went to church with Kimberly at The Net a ministry for young adults.
The two were more than just friends.
She considered Kimberly her sister.
Apparently, a lot of people felt the same way because Kimberly's strong faith in God helped her draw others in.
Briana Axtell said, "She just had a way with getting to know the person deep down inside and just grabbing a hold of that."
On Saturday night, Briana says Kimberly was walking to The Net for a Valentine's sleep-over.
Unfortunately, she was hit by a truck before she arrived.
She died at the hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Briana said, "She had so many people praying for her because she touched so many lives."
Briana says her friend had a heart of gold.
She loved fishing, chicken wings and playing games.
But she'll be remembered most for her passion and love for the Lord.
Briana said, "She loves praising God with all her heart and I know she would want us to just continue to praise God no matter what."
Briana says she's not angry right now about what happened.
But, she does hope and pray that the driver steps forward and does what's right.
