KINGSVILLE - After 66 years, Wilson's True Value Hardware store is closing the doors. The family owned business is currently being run by a married couple, Ben and Pam Wilson.
"We are ready to retire and enjoy things we are passionate about, like travelling and caring for our two ranches," Pam said.
The store is closing but so is a chapter of their lives. The couple enjoyed the stories shared by regulars and the relationships built with tools outside the shop.
"We're going to miss the business but it's time to move on while we are able physically and mentally," said Pam.
All items at the store are at least twenty percent off and going down everyday, the owners say they aren't in a hurry but this is something they have been thinking about for three years now.
The customer service delivered for over sixty years had customers cleaning up on deals but saying their goodbyes to neighborhood friends.
"I got some great deals at Wilson's but I'm going to miss them," David Haunschild said.
Wilson's Hardware was able to retain business for so many years against bow-store competitors because they had the ability to "special order" more than 70,000 parts from their warehouse and have them rush delivered.
"Customers have come to rely on us for the items they can't find anywhere else," Ben Wilson said.
They are hoping that a local of Kingsville will take over the business so they won't have to permanently close up shop but so far no takers.
