MATHIS - There's more information about an accident that happened last night on I-37 near Mathis.
Department of Public Safety Troopers report witnesses told them a Honda was traveling near 100 miles per hour heading northbound before the crash.
The Honda went into a skid across the median before going airborne and landing on a Volkswagen heading southbound.
The Department of Public Safety says 20-year-old Hannah Roberts was driving the Honda that caused the crash. At last check, she was in critical condition at a local hospital. She was driving with 22-year-old Harrison Curbello who passed away at the hospital.
The brother of Harrison Curbello posted on his Facebook today, "He was a wonderful, brilliant, and unique person with a huge heart, and has now left a void in the hearts of his family and those he loved and loved him. Please keep us, the deceased, and the victims still in the hospital in your thoughts and prayers."
Police say 19-year-old Joanna Garcia (the driver of the Volkswagen) was pronounced dead at the scene along with18-year-old Celest Rey Gauna. One of Gauna's friends wrote on Facebook, "She was a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, a former Miller graduate & so much more. She will be missed dearly."
Two others were injured in the accident: 20 year-old Anthony Romero who's listed in critical condition and 18-year-old Daniel Romero is in serious condition. Police say alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash, but speed was the likely cause.
