CORPUS CHRISTI - The Troubleshooters are getting a flood of complaints about sewage problems this week. Today, a family living in a rental house on Husache Street insists that owner has not properly fixed the sewage system in their home. They say she suggested they start using the restroom at a nearby convenience store in the meantime.

Isabel Coleman tells us she got a text message from the landlord telling her she needed to pay her rent or be evicted. She wants the landlord, Linda Currie, to reduce her rent because of the smell inside the home.

The renter and landlord have apparently been going back and forth on issues over rent and plumbing for some time.

"S*** was coming up in the bathtub. S*** was coming up in my kitchen. S*** was coming up in the toilet. We kept doing it.. and doing it... and doing it. She would not listen to me," says Coleman.

Coleman also claims that Currie suggested over the phone that the family use a Stripes bathroom until the plumbing could be repaired.

We spoke with Currie who says she just meant for one night. Both women agree that plumbers have come by to try and fix the problem, including digging a trench in the back yard to access the pipes.

However, Coleman says once they leave, the plumbing backs up again.

She says she has paid someone to fix the problem and wants that amount deducted from the rent.

When we checked the house for a sewage backup we found nothing, the house did not smell, and the bathroom was clean.

Coleman says that may be the case now, but the backup will happen again.

Currie told us that if Coleman pays the $450 of rent today she will not be evicted

In the meantime, Coleman says she contacted code enforcement to request they come check out the house themselves.
