Thousands Gather for HEB's 24th Annual Feast of Sharing

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Feast of Sharing has become a Christmas Eve tradition in Corpus Christi. Today, for the 24th year, thousands gathered at the American Bank Center to eat, drink, and be merry.
Volunteers worked like elves spreading holiday cheer to those who broke bread today.
"I just came here to eat. I'm homeless," said Deneane Roberts.
It's been a hard year for Roberts. She lost two family members and has no hope of being home for the holidays.
"A lot of people are unfortunate. They don't have family, they don't have anybody. The come here and they get blessed," said Roberts.
Navy Chief Curtis Malone volunteered at the Feast of Sharing this year, for the very first time.
"I absolutely love it! I've been out here enjoying the holidays with everyone, just spreading some cheer," said Malone.
Malone says the best part is the look on people's faces when you hand them what may be the only hot meal they've had for days.
"When they see that we all care, we all stick together, that's the best thing in the world," said Malone.
Today's dinner was traditional and included turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes and rolls. Then after dinner there was enough pie to go around. People also enjoyed holiday music as they ate their meals and Santa Claus showed up to take some last minute requests.
By the end of the day there were more than enough smiles to go around, full bellies, and maybe just a little Christmas Eve magic.
