CORPUS CHRISTI - The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi Department of Athletics has partnered with the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to play a pair of "Los Islanders" games that benefit the Hispanic Chamber.
For every single-game ticket purchased to the Jan. 4 game against Lamar and the Feb. 22 game against UTSA, $3 will go to the organization.
"We're incredibly excited to partner with the Hispanic Chamber for these two games," Interim Director of Athletics Scott Lazenby said. "They are a huge part of this community and we want our basketball team to be a significant part as well, so it's a partnership that makes a lot of sense for both sides. We think this is the beginning of what will be a long relationship between our organizations."
As part of the Los Islanders games, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi will wear jerseys with "Los Islanders" emblazoned across the chest. Rosie Collin, the President and CEO of the CC Hispanic Chamber shared a message to all her constituents as well:
"Join the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in supporting our hometown champions, Los Islanders!"
The Islanders' game against Lamar will be the lone regular-season game on Southland TV for Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, and features a matchup between the two new coaches in the conference - Willis Wilson and Lamar's Pat Knight. It will be the conference opener for both teams.
