State Rates CCISD Academically Acceptable; Miller HS Rated Unacceptable

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Accountability ratings for the Corpus Christi Independent School District were released today and overall the state rated the district academically acceptable.

Here's a look at the numbers:

  • 18 campuses were rated exemplary. That's four more campuses than last year.
  • 29 schools were given a recognized rating including for the first time four area high schools.
  • 11 schools were rated academically acceptable.
  • Only Miller HS was rated unacceptable after about ten students failed to graduate or get their GED. Otherwise, the school's academic performance was at the recognized or exemplary level.

    I strongly believe that CCISD is to be commended for their academic achievements.  It is astonishing to see the gains that have been made despite the economic deficits of our country.
