Robstown Fire Victims Speak Out

CORPUS CHRISTI - Nothing but charred memories are left of the two homes that burned down in Robstown Monday afternoon. The Garza and Aldaco families both say that while it's hard losing all of their material items, the memories in the homes will be missed the most.
"My dad actually built this home. It was all my dad's work. He did all of this on his own," said fire victim Cindy Aldaco.
Esmeralda Garza, the daughter of the other fire victims, says she grew up in one of the homes that burned. She says it was also the place where she dropped off her 2 year old daughter every day while she was at work.
"It just hurts to see my parents hurting," said Garza.
Garzas parents are living with her right now and Aldaco and her family are living with relatives in Banquete. While both families are hurting, they agreed on one thing.
"I'm thankful to God I still have my children and my granddaughter... My husband. It's hard, but we will be ok," said Aldaco.
They may have lost everything, but with the knowledge that no one was hurt in the fire both families say they will be just fine.
Both families have set up accounts so friends and community members can donate to help them get back on their feet.
Esmeralda Garza set up an account at the Robstown Bank of America. The account is under her Rodolfo and Becky Garza, her parents names. Donations can only be made at the Bank of America in Robstown.
Aldaco also set up an account at the Navy Army bank. Her account is under the name of Elizabeth Hernandez. Donations can me made at any Navy Army bank.
