CORPUS CHRISTI - Joe Morales says he was out riding his bike in front of his house on Kenwood Street when he fell as a result of a pothole. "The other day I was on the bike and I hit the pothole and I fell down and I got a bruise right here," he said.
And only then did he decide to do something about the pothole. "So when I fell down from the bike is when I decided to call. Yeah, I can understand that. If nobody's gonna do nothing about it, I will," he declared.
"I called the city before...3 weeks ago. They pass thru here but they just look about the people next door if their grass is high, but they don't worry about the streets."
Morales says the pothole's been forming for months now, and looks like it will get worse before it gets better. There's another one forming right next to it. And another one further down the 3400 block of Kenwood.
We left a message with Andy Leal, the assistant director of the City's Streets Department, about the potholes on the 3400 block of Kenwood. Leal always reminds us that pothole repairs are prioritized by the danger they pose for drivers, then pedestrians.
Morales says his concern is that a driver may swerve to avoid hitting the pothole and cause an accident, or hit a pedestrian. So he's doing his part.
