Potholes on Cline Street in Flour Bluff

FLOUR BLUFF, Texas - A woman e-mailed our newsroom describing the condition of Cline Sreet in Flour Bluff. "The entire street will rattle your bones if you try driving down it," she wrote. Cline Street runs right off the SPID access road and ends a block away at Knickerbocker.
There are multiple potholes. Some quite large. All dangerous. "If you enjoy your car, you like your car, and you wanna keep your expenses down, I suggest you stay off that street, 'cause it will chew up your tires a little bit more and your suspension," said Brad Fischer who lives right behind Cline.
And he's right. If you drive normal speed down Cline Street your car will need repairs quickly. "The holes down there fairly deep probably about a foot deep in some places. Luckily I've got a truck, but smaller vehicles that go thru there they're in trouble," Adam Stoner told us. He's run his business for years on Cline.
Another complaint about Cline Street is that it isn't wide enough. "Yeah the road's not very wide down there. If you come to another vehicle half the time you gotta pull over so somebody else can get by," Stoner added.
So Cline Street in the Bluff has big potholes. It's not wide enough. There's no drainage. And it's dangerous.
"As you approach there if you're avoiding the potholes, you're pulling out into the other lane. If somebody's coming around the corner there's going to end up being a collision there maybe some day."
The man at city hall responsible for city streets is Andy Leal. We called him twice to get the city's side on Cline, but he did not call us back as of 4 o'clock Monday afternoon. We'll try again.
