CORPUS CHRISTI - Theft investigators with the Corpus Christi Police Department are asking for help finding a man and woman accused of stealing items from the Walmart on Saratoga and fleeing in a stolen pickup on Friday, January 11th.
Surveillance images from the store show a woman witnesses claim they saw ripping open a couple of cell phone boxes and stuffing the items in her purse. The man with her allegedly hid a couple of quarts of motor oil in her purse as well.
Police say Walmart employees chased the couple out of the store, but the man got behind the wheel of the truck as the woman was hanging over the tailgate to keep employees from seeing the license plate number.
The pair left behind the stolen merchandise as they took off.
The woman is described by investigators as white, 5'3" - 5'5", 145-155 lbs., with a "chunky mid-section." She was wearing black pajama pants and a white hoodie. The man is white, 6' - 6'4", 250-290 lbs., last seen wearing a brown jacket with a fur collar.
According to police they were driving a Toyota Tacoma reported stolen from the Sutherland's parking lot five days earlier. There are four photos released by the Corpus Christi Police Department of a man and a woman seen near the truck in the Sutherland's parking lot who appear similar to the man and woman seen in the Walmart video.
The truck's driver's side window is rolled down in the photographs.
