INGLESIDE - San Patricio County Attorney David Aiken has decided former Ingleside volunteer firefighter Jerry Brasher will not be facing misdemeanor charges for failing to report alleged arson by fellow firefighters.
We're told the decision was made based on evidence that Brasher may have heard about the alleged arsons, but he did not witness the incidents himself.
Shane Kinney and Billy Joe Criddle were arrested last year on charges they started a series of fires using sparklers. Some of their coworkers in the Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department were injured while fighting the fires in September.
The men were allegedly upset with the department over an internal matter.
Kinney and Criddle were indicted last month on two felony counts of arson. Officials say the cost of the fire response and medical bills for the injured is around one million dollars.
