CORPUS CHRISTI -- A Corpus Christi police officer happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Officers say the cop saw a man running out of the La Palmera Mall with a bunch of designer purses.
We're told each bag is worth more than $300.
The officer followed the man who eventually jumped in a car.
But the cop stopped the suspect and the driver, with him, for questioning.
Dillards managers called soon after to tell police their store was missing several purses.
Police say both the driver and the man who took the purses will face charges.
We're also told that crime is starting to pick up around the mall...so be extra careful.
Sr. Officer Humitz said, "We've got extra officers out on the street right now for holiday enforcement to try and stop this from happening. But this could've also been purses left in vehicles in the parking lot, we've seen a lot of that going on too."
