CORPUS CHRISTI - In this week's Kitchen Cops report several restaurants received high scores in their inspections, but one made our B-list after employees were seen wearing jewelery.

First, we have two businesses where inspectors did not find a single violation. La Michoacana at 3829 Crosstown Expressway and Luby's #3 at 1510 S. Padre Island Drive were issued perfect scores. Congratulations to them.

Topping the A-list is the Papa Murphy's Pizza at 5017 Saratoga with a score of 97. The only violation found was a can opener in the kitchen that needed to be cleaned.

The Popeyes at 1145 S. Port also earned a 97 with only the drive-thru area needing a good sweeping, according to inspectors.

The B-list begins with Little Caesar's Pizza #101 at 9801 Saratoga Boulevard. The business was given a score of 89 after the inspector noticed employees were not wearing hair or beard restraints, the stores food wasn't labeled properly, there was no proof of a food manager's certificate and the restroom doors were not closing on their own.

Also on the B-list is the Aqui Es at 4709 Kostoryz with a score of 89. Employees were caught wearing jewelery, the ice scoop wasn't being stored properly, there was no soap or towels at the hand washing sink and the restroom doors also needed to be self closing.

This week's low score goes to Taqueria Jalisco #2 at 2341 Horne Road with a score of 77. The inspectors noted violations for employees not washing their hands between tasks in the kitchen. Employees were also seen without hair or beard restraints and were wearing jewelry.

The report also states that raw meat was being stored over ready to eat food, cleaning chemicals were not stored properly, the can opener and microwave needed to be cleaned and there was mold in the ice machine.

The business was also informed that the condiments were not covered properly, the knives were not stored properly and the the bathroom door needed to close on its own.

We stopped in twice to get a comment on the violations inspectors found in the restaurant.

During our first visit the manager met us at the counter, but did not answer any questions.

"You can come in the morning," he told us. "So there's no one here we can talk to?" Mitch Bryan asked. "Yeah, his name is Jaime. You can come in the morning." "Okay, what time will he be here?" "I don't know."

We came by the next day to find the owner or manager, but were told they were not there.

"Is Jaime here today?" asked Mitch Bryan. "who?" replied the cashier. "Jaime. I was told to ask for Jaime." "He's at the number 1. This is the number 2." "Okay, this is the number 2. Is there a manager here at all, that I can talk to?" "He's not here right now." "Can I ask you guys some questions about some of this stuff?" "No. Not right now."

After two days of seeking comment we left without answers as to whether the business had been able to correct the problems found.
