CORPUS CHRISTI - We have scores all across the board this week from health inspectors shelling out compliments to mold found in an ice machine.

Topping this week's Kitchen Cops report is the Taco Bell at 5821 Saratoga Boulevard in Corpus Christi. Health inspectors noted that the restaurant did a "great job" on the report.

Hester's café at 1714 S. Alameda made the A-list with a score of 97. The only thing inspectors found wrong is that the bathroom doors had to be closed by hand instead of shutting on their own.

Wrapping up the A-list is the Peter Piper Pizza at 4938 S. Staples with a score of 93. Violations include a dirty microwave and inspectors found a tub of salad being stored on the floor of the cooler.

On the B-list is the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) at 2037 S. Padre Island Drive. The inspectors gave a score of 82 after finding employees not wearing hair nets or washing their hands when switching tasks in the kitchen. There were also some dirty knives being kept with clean ones utensils, cooks were caught not thawing meat properly, and the restrooms needed to be cleaned.

On the C-list is the Saigon Cafe at 5625 Saratoga Boulevard with a score of 79. The restaurant lost points after health inspectors caught employees not wearing hair nets, food was not being stored properly, there was no hot water at the hand washing sink, the cleaning supplies weren't being kept in the right place, and there was mold found inside the ice machine.

This week's low score goes to the Taqueria Jalisco #8 at 5813 Weber Road. The inspectors issued a score of 69 after finding a slew of violations. The report shows some of the food wasn't being kept at the correct temperature. Employees were also seen using their dirty aprons to wipoe their hands rather than using a hand washing sink between tasks. Inspectors also found that the scoop handles were touching other foods, the hand washing sink was being used for other tasks, and fruit flies were seen buzzing around the kitchen.

We stopped by at the restaurant seeking answers about the health inspector's initial report.

The manager told us, "We already got re-inspected and everything passed okay this time." He also let us know staff put out insect strips on the doors to capture any insects that may want to come inside.

Two days after their first visit inspectors indeed found most of the violations had been taken care of. The business earned a 97 during that secondary inspection.
