CORPUS CHRISTI - Our top score goes to a house of worship this week as the Christian Fellowship Cafeteria at 6602 S. Staples earned a 100 from the inspector.
The Texas Roadhouse at 2029 S. Padre Island Drive earned a score of 93. The inspector noted employees were not wearing beard restraints and a can opener in the kitchen needed to be cleaned.
Topping the B-list is My Favorite Muffin at 3920 S. Padre Island Drive. The business was given a score of 87 due to scoop handles that were touching other foods, there were no towels at the hand washing sink, cleaning supplies were seen near food, and the soda fountain nozzles needed to be cleaned.
Grandma's Gorditas at 4450 Greenwood earned a score of 85. The taco shop employees were seen wearing jewelry while cooking, the stored food wasn't labeled, and new thermometers are needed for all the coolers.
This week's low score of 76 belongs to Furr's Cafeteria at 4121 S. Port Avenue. The buffet style restaurant was cited for employees not wearing hair nets, the stored food wasn't labeled, there was raw meat stored above the ready to eat food, there was no hot water coming out of any of the faucets, and the ice machine had mold in it.
When we stopped by to ask the manager about the health inspection she would not comment and asked us to leave.
