HOUSTON - Houston police have filed charges against a man accused of defacing a mural of President Barack Obama.

The Houston Chronicle reports (Michael Dale Kroetsch was charged Friday with felony criminal mischief. Police say he has not been arrested.

Authorities allege 58-year-old Kroetsch took part in a Jan. 28 incident in which someone splashed paint across the 10-foot image of Obama, which is located near a popular Houston midtown restaurant.

It was the second act of vandalism against the mural. The first one happened Oct. 16 when someone threw red paint onto the image painted by artist Reginald C. Adams.

The mural was repainted earlier this month as a dozen volunteers helped Adams create a new image showing Obama holding a baby boy.
