CORPUS CHRISTI - I hope you enjoyed the showers we've seen over the past few days, it'll be a while before we see the rain again.

We had a beautiful summer rain Thursday, especially over the eastern half of the area. Main rainfall totals were well over an inch. Unfortunately we will be drying out for the next week or so. Here are the details.

This Weekend

A moist unstable tropical air mass will move out of South Texas as the "dry high" moves back over the region resulting in light winds but bone dry and blazing hot conditions this weekend and virtually all of next week.

Today we'll see dryer conditions with a high of 93 degrees under mostly sunny skies and a moderate wind out of the SE blowing between 10 and 20 miles per hour.

Tonight we will have fair skies and it will be calm and quiet with a low of 72. Saturday will be sunny and sultry hot due to light winds and a high of 95 degrees on Saturday.

Temperatures will be near 100 degrees in Corpus Christi next week with temperatures topping 100 degrees inland!

There is an area of disturbed weather over the Island of Cuba that the National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on. The Hurricane Center has now labeled this disturbance "Investigation 96". This system has the potential to develop into a tropical storm over the next 48 hours so we'll keep an eye on it.

Invest 96

If it does turn into a tropical storm it'll be named "Debby" and will travel straight northward so it won't be a threat to us here along the Texas Gulf Coast. It could pose a problem to the folks in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle by next week.

Out in the Atlantic we find Tropical Storm Chris, which for a short time yesterday was Hurricane Chris.

TS Chris

Chris is not expected to last too much longer, and is no threat whatsoever to us here along the Gulf of Mexico.
