Corpus Christi, TX - The Corpus Christi Hammerheads (7-5) begin their quest for an SIFL Championship Saturday night in Lake Charles, Louisiana against the Louisiana Swashbucklers (8-4).

The two teams are no strangers to one another in the post season as they squared off twice before in now defunct Intense Football League Championship game. The two regular season meetings in 2011 were split with each team winning on their home turf.

"I like how we're playing heading into the playoffs", said Hammerheads boss Dustin Almond. "We've won our last two games and performed well on both sides of the ball and if we play our game I'm confident".

The Swashbucklers head into the postseason losing their last two games, and 3 of the past 4. QB Ben McLaughlin, who had stayed away from mistakes most of the season, has thrown 7 interceptions against 5 TD's in his last two games. Meanwhile Hammerheads rookie QB Anthony Andre has gone 36-58 for 367 yards, 11 TD's and just one pick in that same stretch.

Corpus Christi does have some injury concerns heading into the game. WR Nathaniel Dunn is doubtful with a knee injury. DB Ruben Flowers (foot) and OL Derrick Hamilton (hand) are questionable. DB Maurice Wiggins (neck) and FB Skyler Moore (knee) are probable.

The other Western Conference playoff game features the Rio Grande Valley Magic (6-6) heading to Houston on Monday to battle the Houston Stallions (12-0). If Corpus Christi wins Saturday, they would either host Rio Grande Valley or head to Houston in the Western Conference Championship game.

In the East, the Trenton Steel (8-4) battle the top seeded Columbus Lions (11-1), and the Erie Explosion (9-3) takes on the Albany Panthers (10-2).

Kickoff Saturday night at the Lake Charles Civic Center is set for 7pm. The game can be heard locally on Sports Radio Corpus Christi, 1230am, beginning at 6:40pm.
