CORPUS CHRISTI - Parents who have a toddler know that messes are a common thing especially when your little one is eating. But one product promises to stop those messes in their tracks. It's call the Gyro Bowl, a futuristic food bowl that I put to the test.
Breakfast time at my brother's house and his one year old son Dylan is ready to chow down. On the menu this morning, my nephew's favorite cereal.
But all kids have the same idea when it comes to eating.. what fun is it, if you can't play with your food?
Anyone who's spent time around a toddler knows that the food you give them rarely ends up in their mouths.
Normal bowls don't really work for my nephew, which is why I thought he'd be the perfect test subject to see if the Gyro Bowl really works.
The As-Seen-On-TV item boasts a 'sleek new take on the traditional food bowl,' with 360 degree technology and gyroscopic abilities. It looks like every parents' dream, but does it really stop the spills like it says?
After only a few seconds, Dylan pushes over the Gyro Bowl and unlike last time with the old bowl, the snacks stay inside.
What if your child is not safely strapped into a seat? Dylan likes to eat on the go as he waddles through the house.
Typically leaving a trail of crumbs for mom and dad to easily find him.
The makers of the Gyro Bowl say their product will prevent the mess. So we gave Dylan another bowl and set him loose.
For the most part, the snacks stayed in the bowl, no matter how Dylan was holding it. To me, that doesn't mean the Gyro Bowl is perfect. There's no way to stop a spill if Dylan takes a fall.
In the end, when you compare the technology of the Gyro Bowl to you regular, run of the mill bowl, it seems to have a leg up. I mean, it really does minimize spills.
So the Gyro Bowl does go a long way to slowing down spills, but hoping that it can stop your tyke from making messes, is a longshot at best.
In next week's Does It Work? segment I'll put the Bondo Dent Puller to the test. The product promises to pop any dent out of your vehicle. That report will air Thursday, November 3rd at 5pm on KZTV.
