CORPUS CHRISTI - Hall of Fame Promoter, Don King, will be ringside at the American Bank Center on Saturday, February 18th, for TRIPLE THREAT. King, who's Don King Productions is co-promoting the event with Goossen Tutor Promotions, will be making his first appearance in Corpus Christi. He will be at the American Bank Center, along with lead promoter for Triple Threat, Dan Goossen, regarded as one of Boxing's top promoters.

The flamboyant King, now 80 years old, will be arriving in Corpus Christi on Friday, February 17, in time to see his fighters, Chris Molina and Tavoris Cloud, step on the scale for 1:00 pm Weigh-Ins at the Executive Surf Club (downtown Corpus Christi). He will stay through Saturday and be ringside at Triple Threat.

The Rio Grande Valley native, Molina, is 18-1 and the #11 World Ranked Heavyweight by the WBC. Molina will be taking on #1 World Ranked Heavyweight, Chris Arreola, in one of the three featured fights on the card. Cloud, the World Light Heavyweight Champion, will be defending his world title against former World Champion, Gabriel Campillo. Two-Time World Champion, Paul Williams, will be battling #2 World Ranked Nobuhiro Ishida in the other TRIPLE THREAT bout.

King is perhaps best know as Boxing's most charismatic and controversial promoter, ever. He began his career in the early 1970's when he took over as promoter for Muhammad Ali. He would also go on the promote hundreds of championship fights, including mega fights with boxing super stars Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and many other boxing stars.

According to event coordinator, Lester Bedford, Corpus Christi is about to change. "The key word for the citizens of Corpus Christi is -- GET READY," said Bedford.

"Don is like no other person you will ever have come to your town. He'll light some fires and create some energy, fast. I believe the fight fans there are in for a huge treat with a terrific fight card, but with Don coming, it only gets spicier. Maybe we should change the name of the event to "Quadruple Threat."
