CORPUS CHRISTI - A group of local brides say their wedding planner has left them hanging when it comes to making arrangements for their big day. They are also claiming the owner of Cha Cha Events took their money.
As we first reported on Friday, several brides say none of the money they paid to Leza Chandler, was used on deposits.
Now the brides to be say their caterers, florists, and more don't even have their wedding date booked.
To make matters worse the phone number for Cha Cha events is disconnected and a former employee says the business is closed.
However, we found a new cell phone number and got this voicemail greeting from Chandler:
"Cha Cha Events LLC has gone out of business. It has been bankrupted by putting money into a banquet hall that ultimately didn't turn a profit. Your money has not been stolen. Your money has not been taken. Your money was invested into a company that ultimately failed."
"You are not entitled to a pound of my flesh. You are entitled to a refund of any moneys you paid. No amounts of threatening phone calls towards me, my children, and my family, harassments over the phone or by email, or vicious lies about me on the television or in the newspaper will expedite the process."
"I'm sorry this company went bankrupt, it has bankrupted me as well. Please leave your message at 407-222-9832 and my lawyers will get in touch with you as they sell off assets and work to get your money back. Thank you."
