CORPUS CHRISTI -- CCISD kicked off a new initiative to help prevent bullying at school.
Parents and students can now download applications on their smart phones to report bullying.
Teachers and staff have undergone training on how to spot bullying and what to do when they see it happening.
And, seminars have also been scheduled to help parents learn more about bullying.
But the father of one CCISD student says the initiative just isn't enough.
He says his son was bullied so badly, he had no choice but to remove him from his school.
The boy and father -- who didn't want to be identified -- say bullying is a big problem at Hamlin Middle School.
The 6th grader says a group of boys targeted him as soon as school started.
He said, "They were stabbing me and punching me and throwing footballs at me and cussing at me."
His father showed us photos of a bruise on his son's chest after someone pushed him too hard and marks he says a bully left after stabbing his boy with a pencil.
He also claims one of the kids even threw a football at his son's head...nearly causing him to pass out.
His father said, "Im 5'7" 160 pounds, these boys are a lot bigger than I am and it's kind of like a grown man hitting my boy and that really bothers me and enrages us."
The family says they went through all the steps to report the bully problem, even filing assault charges against one of the kids through the district's police department...
but the problem persisted.
And, they say the bully stayed on campus.
The father said, "It's an ongoing battle with the bullies there at Hamlin Middle School."
Last week, the boy moved to a different school, but his father fears for other students so we took his concerns to the district's superintendent.
Superintendent Scott Eliff said, "I don't know about the specific incident that you're talking about. If a student or a parent feel a student is being bullied then they report that to the office, they report that to the school administrator and there are specific policies we are supposed to follow."
We also talked to the school's principal.
She couldn't go into detail about the bullying report but, she did tell us they investigated it and one child received punishment.
Here are a few more details...Superintendent Eliff says it'll take about ten days for each bullying report to be investigated.
If the report is proven to be true, the bully might face in school suspension, suspension or even a transfer to an alternative school.
