CORPUS CHRISTI - Police are looking for three African-American men believed to be involved in an attempted burglary this morning on Del Mar Boulevard.
A homeowner says one suspect rang her doorbell several times around 10:00 this morning, but she refused to answer since she did not know the man.
She remained inside the home with her two children as the same man backed up an SUV in her driveway.
"I was afraid they were about to ram through the gate, my kids were in the house with me, I really didn't have any option on what to do but call the police," she said.
A total of three suspects got out of the SUV and put on masks before trying to hop over the gate to the back yard. She did not see a weapon but told us she wouldn't be surprised if they had one.
"I didn't know when people are that ballsy to try and rob your house in broad daylight, I imagine that they probably do but I didn't see anything," she said.
The homeowner tells us she tapped on the window to get the men's attention and let them know she was calling 911.
The suspects took off heading towards Ocean Drive. The woman told police their vehicle was a maroon Jeep or Dodge Durango with a shiny, chrome finish.
The family is planning to put in additional security at their home.
"We're thinking about installing some video cameras as well." She said.
Her husband agreed that being safe and practicing good habits will help keep the family protected.
"We will continue to be diligent about keeping the doors locked and do what we can I mean at that point there's only so much you can do," he said.
