CORPUS CHRISTI - Speed is being blamed for an accident that left a young woman dead Friday evening.

Police say 23-year-old Tiffany Nicole Jaimes was killed instantly after slamming her 1996 2-door Acura into a telephone pole.

Jaimes is a 2006 graduate of Carroll High School.

It happened along Gollihar near Weber.

Witnesses say the victim was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic just before the accident.

Police say it appears she lost control and wrapped her car around the telephone pole.

No one else was in the car with her.
