ARANSAS PASS - It was around 3 o'clock Saturday morning when shots rang out in Aransas Pass.  At least ten bullets hit the front of a house on Honor Drive, shattering the windows and the morning peace and quiet.

Greg Unverzagt is a Navy Petty Officer and lives with his family in the home where the shooting occurred.  But he wasn't home Saturday morning.  His family was.  He declined our request for an on-camera interview, saying he and his family are scared !

But he and Aransas Pass Police told us similar stories about the people that Unverzagt's wife had allowed to stay the home.  "She was helping out some young men. Alot of them stay there while they work on their trailer. I guess they've been there for a couple of weeks,"  said APPD Det. Leo Martinez.  He's the lead detective on the case.

He says one of the men staying at the home had been hit by the gunfire and had to be hospitalized.

Marcey Robles lives down the street.  She told us she didn't know what had happened until the complex management put a letter on all the residents doors letting them know.  Then she told us her son knows the victim.  In fact she says the victime called her son to tell him he'd been shot in the back.  "It got pretty close to the heart but it didn't kill him or anything. So they did save him."

Robles says the victim also told her son he was released from the hospital Sunday.  Police believe all the bullets came from the same caliber weapon.

     The investigation continues.
